Learning begins with discovery!
The Churchill County Museum’s Discovery Room features long-term interactive exhibits about animals, weaving, ducks, Native Americans, Churchill County, and much more!
Visitors can sit at wooden school desks and draw with real chalk on a chalkboard. They can explore the chores of old with a vintage iron, a pot scrubber, or even draw water with a working hand pump.
Children and adults alike can try their hand at telegraphy, tapping out messages in Morse code, or type on a typewriter – recalling the days when the clatter of the typewriter was heard in every office. In addition, the Discovery Room also offers a weekly self-directed activity based on a changing monthly theme with a wide range of fun and interesting subjects.
Come to the Discovery Room to discover the world; learn the mystery of how things function or create a project to take home or display. Children and families can learn, read, and play together!
