In the beginning the Chiricahua Apaches lived happily in the Boulder Strewn foothills and Tree Studded Mountains of their ancestral homeland. The Apaches were proud people who loved their freedom. In order to enjoy that freedom they had to fight those who would take it from them. Young boys were required to prove their fitness to be Apache warriors and hunters by passing certain tests.
